  What is the pixel pitch?

So if you need to show high-resolution images or videos on your display, you need an LED display screen with a small pixel pitch. The following figure shows the pixel pitch effect on image quality.

  Pixel pitch affects the viewing distance too. The minimum viewing distance is the distance that you can watch images and videos with an acceptable level of pixelation. The smaller the pixel pitch, the smaller gap between the pixel and the less pixelation of the image. Therefore, the viewer can stand closer to your display.

  How to choose the best Pixel Pitch size?

  To choose the optimum pixel pitch two factors should be considered, the viewing distance and the required image resolution. Smaller pixel pitches are better all the time and deliver you better image quality but, it costs more. You may decrease the expenses of an LED display screen by using a larger pixel pitch and still have almost the same image quality if the viewing distance is longer than the best viewing distance. The best viewing distance of a pixel pitch is the distance that your eyes won’t be able to the gaps between pixels anymore if you go further away.

  Take an LED display screen with P10 modules (pixel pitch of 10mm). The minimum viewing distance for P10 is 10m and the best viewing distance is 20m. So, if people watch it from 10m to 50m away, they can see an acceptable image quality with a fading level of pixilation from 10m to 20m and a very good image quality after 20m. So you may want to increase the image quality using P8 or even P6 module for close range. But If the viewing distance was from 20m to 50m, there was no point to use a smaller pixel pitch with a higher resolution. Because the viewing distance was already more than the best viewing distance of P10.

  As a rough estimation, P10 (10mm pixel pitch) is suitable for any outdoor application with a viewing distance of 10m and more. P8 or P6 (6mm and 8mm pixel pitch) can also be used if the target audience is at a closer distance. For an indoor LED display screen, P6 may suit any advertising needs with a viewing distance of 6m and more. P4 (4mm pixel pitch) can also be used if your audience is closer such as an LED video wall in a retail environment.

  One of the most important parts of any electronic sign product is how to communicates with the software and how you can update it. Lots of factors need to be considered to decide about the best communication method. To choose which communication method suites your needs, you need to answer the following questions: How often do you change the sign information? What is the distance between your computer and the LED display screen? What is the elevation of your sign and how accessible is it? Can you provide cable or Wi-Fi internet connection in the sign location? There are lots of different communication methods and each method has its advantages and disadvantages.

  USB Communication

  The USB communication method is the most basic type of communication. In this method, software exports the new message and design as well as new settings to a USB drive.   Disadvantage:

  Wi-Fi Communication:

  Wi-Fi communication has been a standard option for LED display screen communication because it is inexpensive and doesn’t limit the location of the sign and the location of the content management software. In this method, content management software communicates with the internal Wi-Fi module of the LED display screen directly using 2.4 GHz standard Wi-Fi frequency.   Disadvantage:

  Internet connection needs to be provided in the sign location. A monthly connection fee is required If there is no internet connection available in the sign location. Internet connection in the sign location may need modem (ADSL or 4G) installation or cabling.

  Mobile Data - GPRS Communication

  This communication method is best for controlling outdoor or mobile electronic screens from a far distance. Similar internet communication method, controlling software communicates with the LED display screen or LED display screen through an internet connection.
